Overcoming Racism
A Journey of Christian Discovery
This journey of discovery, which is dedicated to understanding how racial polarization has led us to where we are today, is based on the words of Christ in the Gospels and on Catholic teaching on racial justice.
Our goal in this journey is to put today’s racially polarized America in the context of Christ’s Sermon on the Mount and apply that understanding to your commitment to overcoming racism and to helping others.
One of our primary objectives in this journey is to mute our personal politics and partisanship so we all are safe to express our opinions without feeling vulnerable to attack as we begin the process of understanding what we believe and why others may not hold those same beliefs.
This series of six workshops will occur at 7:00 pm on Wednesday evenings in the MPR from Oct 13—Nov 17. Each session will last approximately 90 minutes. Our focus will be on America’s racial history as well as current racial “hot topics."
Please note, this is a workshop. Participation is highly encouraged and you will receive reading assignments.
