"Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another." Proverbs 27:17
"For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them." Matthew 18:20
We believe, as Catholics, it is important to find a spiritual family, or organization, to be part of. Community and fellowship are essential to our Catholic faith! In order to make disciples, we must be intentionally strengthening our own faith and growing to become more like Christ everyday. Being part of a group at church is the best way to challenge ourselves and grow in our own spiritual walk with the Lord.
"As each has received a gift, employ it for one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who utters oracles of God; whoever renders service, as one who renders it by the strength which God supplies; in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen." 1 Peter 4:10-11
In a similar way, it is important to give of our time and our talent to serve Christ's Church. God created us all uniquely and gave us special gifts and talents that are special to us. He calls us to use these gifts in order to further His kingdom on earth. Please click on the commissions below to see opportunities to get involved at our parish!
Ascension Parish utilizes a commission structure to advance our parish mission statement which is “Love God, Love Others, Make Disciples.” This structure was adopted as a result of a parishioner survey conducted in late 2017. Commissions were formed to increase laity participation, implement new ideas and coordinate activities. The commissions are: Engagement, Liturgical Life, Stewardship, Faith Formation, Social Justice, Education, and Evangelization. Each commission has a list of groups and organizations that fall underneath it.
