Mission Minimize

Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent DePaul is an international Catholic volunteer organization dedicated to helping all people in need, regardless of faith. In doing this work, we enrich our lives spiritually.  We follow St Vincent DePaul’s motto of “Seeing God in the faces of the poor.”

History Minimize

The St. Vincent DePaul Society was founded in 1833 in Paris, France. The very first St Vincent DePaul Conference in the United States was formed in St. Louis at the Old Cathedral. Ascension’s conference was started in 1991 at the encouragement of the late Monsignor Joseph Pins. Ascension’s SVDP Conference is a member of the St Louis Council which consists of 142 parish conferences. Through the continued support of our Ascension clergy and parishioners, we have successfully increased: membership, scope of activities and the number of people we help through our services

Annual Summary Minimize

Ascension SVDP Conference provided financial support directly to families in Ascension’s parish boundaries. We partnered with other St louis parishes to help families in need. Also, families were provided meals and food through our programs at St. Nicholas Food Pantry, St Vincent DePaul Church, Sts. Peter and Paul Shelter and St Patrick’s Center.

See Annual Summary for more information.

Prayer for SVDPS Minimize

O God, who put love of the poor into the hearts of Frederic Ozanam and his companions,

and inspired them to found a Society for the relief of the spiritual and corporal miseries of those in want,

bless this work of charity and zeal,

and in accord with Your designs that Your pious servant, Frederic Ozanam,

was glorified as Blessed by the Church,

we beseech You to manifest by heavenly favors the power he enjoys in Your sight.

We make this prayer through Your Son,

  Our Lord Jesus Christ,

who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
